Training

Joanna is an experienced trainer. She has herself undertaken training on putting together and effectively delivering course content, most recently a TEFL qualification and a CPD accredited “Train the Trainer” course with The Mandatory Training Group.

Joanna has been involved in the development and delivery of several different training programmes for Intermediaries (including an MoJ-approved course for Registered Intermediaries in 2018). Most recently, in her role as Training Lead at The Intermediary Co-operative (TIC), she has developed a programme to train and equip communication specialists (such as Speech and Language Therapists) to work in the HMCTS Appointed Intermediary (HAI) role. This training programme was successfully rolled out in 2023, with the first cohort of trainees now taking on cases as Intermediaries.

Joanna has also written and delivered numerous presentations for court and justice professionals (such as barristers, solicitors and ISVAs) on the communication needs of vulnerable people within the court process/environment and the Intermediary role. Joanna has also guest lectured on the Intermediary role for Psychology postgraduates at Manchester Metropolitan University. 

 

Joanna is available to present at conferences, team meetings, and other professional events, either in person (in the North West) or remotely. She can deliver training on the Intermediary role (and effective joint working with other professionals), the communication needs of vulnerable people within the court process and environment, and tools for simplifying language (and adjusting the process/environment) at court. ​
